Recycling

Bracknell Forest Borough Council is trying to get us to not throw so much stuff away. They won’t in fact collect overflowing bins so you need to think carefully about what you buy and the rubbish it will cause.

Did you know that you can get £30 for going green and using reusable nappies if you are a parent? 8 million disposable nappies are thrown away in the UK every day and they can take hundreds of years to rot away!

Every hour UK homes produce enough rubbish to fill the Royal Albert Hall in London!

In Bracknell Forest there are many opportunities to recycle our waste. For example:

  • Each house in the borough can have a blue bin or kerbside box for plastic bottles, food tins and drinks cans and additional boxes for paper and card. These are emptied at the kerbside on alternate weeks to your normal bin collection.
  • Across the Borough there are 36 public recycling sites where other items for recycling can be taken, including glass, textiles, shoes, books and foil.
  • The Civic Amenity Site at Longshot Lane has banks and dedicated areas for all recyclable items, including scrap metal, electrical equipment, motor oil and batteries.

This is why you should think about recycyling:

  • Allows materials to be used again and made into useful products.
  • Conserves valuable natural resources.
  • Saves expensive and wasteful landfill costs.
  • Helps keep the planet for future generations.

So the message is, think before you thrown away!! A minute of thought could save the planet!
