  • You could run you own computer club

Bracknell Forest has nine libraries, and the staff will listen and talk to you about running your own group. You don’t have to run it in the library – we can come to a youth club too.

So how do I join the library?

It’s all good news…

Membership is free and it doesn’t matter how old you are!. Everyone who lives, works or studies in Bracknell or a council area near Bracknell, may join.

You will be asked to fill in a short form and to provide two official documents or forms of ID that show your name and address and signature. If you are under16, a parent, grandparent or legal guardian will need to sign the form.

If you already have an e-+ card from school or the sports centre, we can add your library membership to it. If you don’t already have an e-+ card we will take your photograph when you join and your new card will be sent to your home.

How much can I borrow?

How long do I get the stuff for?

If you want things for longer, you don’t have to come into the library, you can also renew them by phone or post (unless someone else asked for them before you).

And still there’s more…..

Being a member of the  library also allows you 1 hour a day access to the internet, for free!.

But here’s the small print…..

The library service cannot be responsible for the accuracy and usefulness of the information that you might find but we do need to tell you about our internet use policy (you know the legal stuff about using the internet)…

  • Viewing or transmitting any material that is illegal is not allowed. This is not the whole list but includes copyrighted material, threatening or obscene material and any material protected by trade secret. The library service does have the right to monitor and/or end sessions where inappropriate material is being used and to be able to withdraw the service from individuals found misusing the internet.
  • Inappropriate materials should not be e-mailed, nor should offensive or threatening language be used.
  • If you are under 16, you need the permission of a parent or legal guardian to use the internet, in fact the library service encourages parents/guardians to supervise their children’s use of the internet.
  • There is a filtering system in use but parents/guardians should be aware that young people may still be able to access “chat rooms”. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to ensure that the young people act appropriately although the library service strongly recommends that no one gives personal details on the internet, also that no agreements are made to meet people contacted on the internet.
  • Bracknell Forest Borough Council Library service accepts no responsibility for sites that children and young people access.
  • The library service cannot guarantee that internet access will always be available nor can the access speed or access to specific sites be guaranteed.

You may borrow and return from and to any of the borough libraries.
