United Kingdom Youth Parliament Convention
Max Ranger, Member of Youth Parliament
On Saturday we had our first convention of the year, in this case my second year as Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) of Bracknell Forest. The key speaker at the beginning of the day Ben Cohen spoke on how he used social media to promote his equal marriage campaign, this is something I can use on promoting both UKYP and youth council campaigns throughout this year.
In the second and third part of the day all the Members of Youth Parliament met to discuss how the annual sitting was going to work this year, the annual sitting is a yearly event where MYP’s from across the country meet up to discuss their work and prepare for the House of Commons debate, this was a good meeting as it gave me more knowledge on how things were going to work this year compared to last year.
Finally we had a government consultation workshop on the European Union and how it should or should not effect the education system and many other things involving young people. This was a brilliant opportunity to learn more about the world that we live in, and I will be able to share this with many other members of the youth council
