The Wayz is a safe and pleasant place for young people in the local area to attend; there are numerous projects available in order to cater for a wide variety of young people. In the last six months, the Wayz has worked with over 200 different young people. These young people are from the local area and further, they have attended in order to enjoy and partake in leisure time activities, as well as gain the opportunity to try new things. They are taking part in a programme which is designed to develop each young person in regards to their own needs and aspirations. This provides an arena to help support young people and help them gain the confidence and understanding when dealing with issues and challenges in their lives.
The Juniors session is for 8-11 year olds (or until they leave year 6 at school). This session is every Tuesday 17:30-19:00. The juniors session is supported by a group of volunteers to deliver a positive activity programme, a key focus is to develop, confidence, communication, team work, sense of belonging and have fun.
The Inters session is for those in Year 7- 9 at school. At Inters young people are encouraged to engage with the programme of positive activites. Encouraging participation and development through confidence, communication, respect and ownership. This session is every Tuesday 19:30-21:00. Please use the contact us page for more information.
The Seniors session is for those aged 14-19. This session is every Wednesday 19:30-21:30. In this session young People create session targets to focus on relevant issues through topical workshops. The programme is built around; positive relationships, personal safety, personal hygiene, healthy lifestyles, life-skills, social action and volunteering.
The Chillout session is for those aged 12-16 and runs every Friday 17:00-18:30. The purpose of this session is to develop communication and independence for young people living with moderate learning difficulties. The session engages with the needs of the individual to ensure personal and social development.
The Hangout session is for those aged 16-25 who have moderate learning difficulties. This session is every Friday 19:15-21:00. It offers workshops, cooking, independence and life-skills. Young people engage in the programme by building relationships and taking ownership of the centre. It is an opportunity for young people to attend a safe, opportunistic provision which is tailored to their needs.
The Saturday Project is for those aged 8-17. This session is every Saturday at 12:15-13:30 for those aged 11-17 years old and 13:30-15:00 for those aged 8-11 years old. Young people engage in a drop in approach to a session.
Days camps is a holiday activity scheme which runs 8.30am-5pm and engages young people in team building, trips and competitions. Volunteers help deliver this project. These run during the half term breaks, Easter and summer holidays.
