United Kingdom Youth Parliament Convention
Jack Ranger, Deputy Member Of Youth Parliament
Hi I'm Jack, I went to my first convention and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
When we got there we had to go straight into the auditorium to have a keynote. The person that gave the keynote was called Benjamin Cohen and he was talking about equality for gay marriage and disabled people. And he gave a great speech.
I then went to a seminar about votes@16 which was very informative but was based more on campaigning skills than the actual votes. We had to work on a campaign and the different things that we needed to do to make it a successful one. The next seminar looked at youth unemployment,we had a discussion and then debate on unemployment.
We finally went to a government consultation about employment, education an training for young people Europe wide. Our views will form a part of a report on how money could be spent well.
I learnt a lot over the whole day and am pleased to say that I really enjoyed myself.
